<p>An early variety with dark green erect smooth stems that are a special treat for the adventurous gardener. Every part of the plant is edible: the root, stalk and foliage!</p><p>Soil should be kept moist, both in seed bed and in the final planting area. Require rich mellow soil (pH 6.0-7.0) that is well drained but at no time lacks moisture. Sow seed 1/8 in (3mm) deep. When plants are 3 in (8cm) tall, thin or transplant to 4 in (10cm) apart. When weather has settled, set in garden about 6 in (15cm) apart in both directions.</p>
