<p>(Family Berberidaceae) This evergreen shrub has small glossy dark green leaves on vigorous, arching and spiny stems. The plant is covered in many round orange flowers in spring, which are followed by bluish berries. It can grow to 12 ft (4.5m) tall and the same wide.</p><p>It is fully hardy, and likes full sun. Any soil type is tolerated except for excessively wet conditions. Propagate by seed in autumn or semi-ripe cuttings in summer.</p>
