<p>(Family Leguminosaceae) These deciduous trees are grown for their fragrant, pea-like yellow and white flowers which appear in early summer, and for their autumn foliage. The leaves are dark green with 7 or 9 rounded-oval leaflets which turn yellow in autumn, and form a round head. It can grow to 35ft tall (10m).</p><p>They are fully hardy, and require full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. The wood is brittle and older trees are prone to wind damage. Propagate by seed in autum or root cuttings in late winter.</p>
