<p>(Family Cupressaceae) A conical evergreen conifer, 10-15m (30-50ft) tall, 3-5m (10-15ft) spread. It has smooth, flaking red-purple bark, and upright, spirally arranged sprays of aromatic, glaucous blue-gray leaves. The juvenile leaves are are needle-like but become scale-like as they mature. The cones are chocolate brown and globular.</p><p>It is fully hardy and does well in coastal conditions. Grow it in full sun, and almost any soil type, including dry sandy soils. Propagate by seed.</p>
