<p>(Family Eucrhphiaceae) This deciduous tree can be upright or spreading, with dark green, glossy leaves with 3-5 leaflets. The flowers are large and fragrant, white and frilly, and appear in mid to late summer. The leaves then turn bright orange-red in autumn. The tree can grow to 30 ft (10m) tall, with a mature spread of 20 ft (8m).</p><p>It is frost hardy but needs a sheltered position in most climates. It likes to have cool and moist roots with sun on its crown. It requires a fertile, well-drained soil that is more acidic. Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.</p>
