<p>Salal is a lush evergreen understorey shrub of the Pacific Northwest. Highly variable in height, it grows from 20 cm (8 in) to 5 m (16 ft) tall. Salal is moderately shade tolerant and does well in most soil types and moisture conditions.</p>
