<p>Shades of blue, pink, lavender and white; large, trumpet-shaped flowers are open nearly all day. Grows quickly to 2.5-3m (8-10 ft) and blooms all summer and fall, seeming to get more blooms as the season progresses. Does well in full sun and even poor soil. Drought-tolerant. Does not spread by runners.</p><p>Direct-seed mid May through mid June. Soak the seeds for 2 days or nick them. Sow 3mm deep. Doesn't transplant well and likes full sun and good soil. Germinates at 20C in 14 days. Blooms in 14 weeks on a trellis. Space 30-45 cm apart. Approx. 35 seeds/g.</p><p>This genus was used by the Aztecs as a hallucinogen during their religious ceremonials, and also as a medicine. It is native to tropical America. The name Ipomoea comes from the Greek words 'ips' meaning a vine tendril and 'homoios' meaning similar. It refers to the plant's method of climbing with tendrils.</p>
