<p>Light green, slightly frilled leaves taste great in any salad, especially if served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Lettuce is high in Vitamins A and C, as well as folacin, beta carotine, iron and calcium.</p><p>Lettuce is a cold weather plant and likes to be planted in a moist, well-drained soil as soon as the ground can be worked. They should have full sun in spring and partial shade during the hottest part of summer. Sow the fine seed 6 mm (1/4in) deep and 2.5cm (1 in) apart.</p>
