<p>(Family: Campanulaceae) This clump-forming perennial has 3ft (1m) tall stems of narrow, oval green leaves with racaemes of two-lipped blue flowers. They appear in late summer and autumn.</p><p>This lobelia grows best in damp, heavy soil such as that beside a natural pond. It is moderately hardy. Propagate by seed in spring or semi-ripe cuttings in summer.</p>
