<p>{Family: Papaveraceae} This is a rare white form of the orange flowered species. It will flower in its first year producing many pure white flowers with bright yellow stamens. The petals are lightly ruffled, with scalloped edges. It blooms continuously from summer to mid autumn.</p><p>Poppies are hardy and prefer little or no shade and deep, moist, well-drained soil. Sow seed in spring or autumn.</p><p>The common name is thought to come from the Saxon 'popig', meaning 'sleep', a reference to the opium poppy.</p>
