It flowers in mid spring to summer, and then has large, decorative seedpods. The plant grows to 4 ft high.</p><p>Plant in full sun and give it moderate water. It self-seeds readily and is very hardy.</p><p>The common name is thought to come from the Saxon 'popig', meaning 'sleep', a reference to the opium poppy.</p>
