<p>(Family Labiatae) (Also known as P. viscosa and P. samia). This species is an evergreen (or herbaceous in colder climates) perennial with large, heart-shaped leaves that are somewhat coarse, wrinkled and wooly underneath. The flowers are butter-yellow in the characteristic hooded whorls. The stems are the usual square shape of the phlomis genus, and they are upright and wooly. It grows to 3ft (1m) tall and can cover 2ft (60cm) or more. It may be used as a groundcover plant.</p><p>It prefers full sun and well-drained soil (it will do very well in a hot, dry area). Propagate by seed in autumn, or softwood cuttings in summer.</p><p>It comes from Asia Minor (Turkey).</p>
