<p>These tufted or clump-forming perennials have grassy or sword-shaped leaves (they look very much like the foliage of irises) and starry or bell-shaped creamy white to pale yellow flowers on upright stems. The flowers each last only a day but they are produced in succession through the summer and autumn. It grows to 2ft tall.</p><p>Grow them in moisture-retentive but well-drained soil, preferably in full sun. Divide in autumn or spring, or sow seeds.</p><p>This plant is native to Southern Chile.</p>
