<p>(Family Scrophulariaceae) This perennial is semi-evergreen, with tall narrow branching spikes of small flowers. These are yellow with purple to red-brown centres and appear during summer and autumn. The clumps of leaves are oblong shaped, mid-green with furry undersides. The spikes reach 2-3ft (60-100cm), and can spread 2ft (60cm). The plant may be short-lived.</p><p>The plant is fully hardy. Grow it in full sun for best results, but it will grow in partial shade. It needs well-drained soil. Stake if necessary, and remove fading spikes for repeat blooms. Propagate by seed in spring or late summer, or by root cuttings in winter.</p><p>This plant comes from Europe and Asia.</p>
